Meet Idris

Hi, I’m Idris Unwin a recent industrial design graduate from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Over the past three years I’ve developed a strong foundation in design thinking, material exploration, and product development, working on a range of projects both independently and collaboratively.

I have a keen interest in furniture, lighting and household appliance design, driven by my love for interiors and cooking. I spend my spare-time tinkering in my garage, repairing mid-century furniture, at the gym or in the kitchen.

Through my studies I’ve gained experience with various materials and manufacturing techniques, utilising the IDEO design thinking process for human centred design. I have worked through each stage of product development from research and ideation to prototyping and final execution using a combination of sketching Cad modelling, 3D printing, CAM and hands on fabrication.

This website acts as a small taster of my work so far, please reach out for more details!
